                    Lake Arenal Restaurant Information

   I have been visiting Lake Arenal for over five years now and have eaten at most of the Lake Arenal Restaurants.  I actually prefer eating at the local Tico restaurants and the prices are very inexpensive compared to the tourist driven restaurants in town. Most of the Gringo restaurants cater to the foreign tourist and the prices are geared to tourist. You can have a hearty, healthy meal at any of the local Tico restaurants for pennies compared to dollars at the tourist restaurants. The food at most Gringo restaurants is usually prepared by local ticos anyway. You will have to drive by several local Tico restaurants on your way to the Gringo restaurants anyway.

   Check out some of the local Tico Lake Arenal restaurants on your next visit to Lake Arenal and I'm sure you'll be surprised with the quality and quantity of local selections and prices.

                               Moya's 

 Located downtown Nuevo Arenal beside the video rental store.  Excellent pizza and sandwiches.  Also beer and wines. I highly recommend the margarita pizza.  Also great local beers. Reservations usually not needed and they speak English. This is one of my favorite local pizza restaurants. Try the Chico Pizza. The owner Moya can really make some outstanding dishes and it won't beak your wallet.

                                                       

 

                             Mystica

 Great lake view.  Excellent Pizza and sandwiches.  Also has Yoga, meditation programs, and massages.  I highly recommend the salads.  Great local beers and deserts.  Very friendly folks and locally owned by Ticos. They occasionally have live music as well. The view of the lake is great also.

 

 

                            Lajas

 Great salads, seafood, pastas and pizzas with wines and beer. Also has a great gift shop and the landscaping in some of the best in town.  I highly recommend the pizza, salads and specialty coffees.  Located approx a mille South of Nuevo Arenal on the way to La Fortuna.  Reservations usually not needed.  Say hello to Carlos for us. He makes some great pizzas.
